Service Description

Fear of needles is often associated with avoidance of healthcare and can cause extreme stress for children and families. Need-le Lot Less Pain Here is a 1 hour broad overview, live virtual, one time informational session for parents and caregivers. This session focuses on the acute pain associated with routine care involving needles and can be tailored to fit your needs. We will cover the many factors affecting pain and a variety of strategies to minimize this type of pain. Topics may include advocacy, preparation, language, coping plans, breastfeeding, sweet ease, skin to skin, creams and devices, comfort positions, alternative focus, and more. This session is packed with information and provides practical strategies to better equip you for your next healthcare visit involving a needle. This service is geared for parents and caregivers only and childcare arrangements must be made. In the booking process you will be required to complete our Booking Form. Please share any additional information that might be helpful to us so that we can address your interests and needs (ie: who is attending, family coping norms with needles, and what you hope to gain). A link to join the session will be provided after the booking is completed. All participants will be asked to fill out a pre and post survey questionnaire. A minimum of 7 caregiver are needed to provide this service and the fee is based on 1 caregiver (each adult must register separately). It is not required to fill out an Assessment Intake Form or complete an Intake Assessment Session for this service. Healthcare events with needles do not need to be scary or painful.
